I opened an account with oDesk last November 8, 2009 (I logged in to my account and checked the date when I took the oDesk Readiness Test. How else would I remember the date? LOL!) but have applied only six times. Three jobs where withdrawn by employers, one application expired, and two others I declined because I was already designing blogs during that time and was not interested anymore in the amount that the job originally offered. I still log-in once in a while to update my profile (I only do that out of habit, though) but I don’t look for jobs there anymore.
I have taken two tests there aside from the required one. The more recent one I took last December just for the heck of it (I wanted to check how I would fare in oDesk’s WordPress test) and the earlier one (U.S English Basic Skills Test) I took on the same date I took the oDesk Readiness Test. I might take more tests when the mood strikes, but I’m not thinking of taking any jobs there any time soon. I am swamped with direct blog design clients as it is, and I promised to myself that I will give more attention to my blogs this year, so it would be quite impossible to fit oDesk in the everyday equation if I still want to maintain my sanity.
Although not for me, I’m quite pleased that some of my friends are already earning serious money from there, and hope that they continue to get a steady source of income from the site. I will definitely refer more people there if they ask me where to go online to find work from home jobs, as I’ve found them to be the most reliable and the biggest source of online jobs so far.
